My really good friend, from high school to college - throughout sorority life and beyond, lost her Grandma recently. Now before you go thinking a unicorn sympathy card is wildly inappropriate, let me add that her Grandma was known for loving unicorns, fairies, and the color green in honor of her Irish heritage. At the memorial the little girls all had their stuffed unicorns and one even had a unicorn purse! So while this would not a card I'd normally send, without telling a whole long background story, just know what it was actually perfect for this particular hip & artsy Grandma.
The card itself came together quickly with this fanciful paper that looks like it's been color misted for lots of depth. I simply cut the paper to size, mounted on white pre-made card base, and then stamped & heat embossed the "Thinking of You".
I tied a ribbon bow and added little bit of crystal stickles to the front on some of the light spots already part of the paper's design. I'm pretty late to the stickles fan wagon, having just discovered them, but I'm already in love!
The unicorn paper came from a little 8X8 pad my daughter talked me into buying her. She got three in the pad and was nice enough to donate one for this. On one top side is the unicorn used on the front of the card and on the bottom of the sheet is another. I decided to fancy up the inside with the scrap - waste not, want not.
The star was fancy cut out of another paper scrap from the same unicorn sheet and the border was in my stash and I love the finished look it gives, plus this was in honor of a one Granny who loved her glitter so it just was meant to be.
Again, this is definitely not your normal sympathy card, but wouldn't it also make a really whimsical friend card for girls young at heart to send?
