Altered Clipboard

Guess what?!  Last week I entered a giveaway from my favorite scrapbooking company, Doodlebug Design Inc.  I read about it on their blog and decided to give it a try.  Mainly, because I am so in love with their new  line Santa's Workshop.  It's so perfect for LB's first Christmas, those little elves are too darn cute!  I have been wanting to stop at Archiver's to pick it up but haven't managed to make it there.  I thought to myself, how cool would it be if what I really, really, really want just showed up at the door! 

AND IT ACTUALLY IS!!!  I know, Get Out, right?  Gosh I am so excited and got a burst of energy when I saw my name as a winner.  Believe me, I was lagging after getting home on Saturday from a long day starting with an early wake up to make it to Breakfast with Santa across town, and needed some motivation to finish up some projects I'd been meaning to finish.  I was so happy, I pulled out some Doodlebug Design Inc. stuff from my stash for the first one.

I am just in love with how the clip board for ER turned out!  The papers are just so delightful, I've been waiting for the perfect project to get them out and play!  The flowered paper is called Little Lady.  Isn't the name just perfect considering how it's for my little lady?  Her name is spelled out in stickers on the label.  I just had to clone it out of my photo, cause of that whole Internet safety thing my husband makes me stick too.  You'll have to trust me that the curly font the stickers are in are super pretty!  I left the "e" in to give you a hint of the cute factor.

I've  been planning to make ER one ever since I found this really cute personalized clipboard online.  I liked everything about it...except for the $20 price tag and the shipping cost.  I knew I could make something much better.  Since I used supplies I already had on hand, it only cost me $1.97 for the unfinished clipboard.  Sweet!

It was very easy to do.  Paint the edges and top of the clip board.  Use mod podge to attach paper cut to size.  Decorate with stickers and those lovely paper frill borders.  Then add a couple of layers of mod podge over everything to protect the decorations.  Finish with a couple of layers of sealant, because the mod podge may leave a slightly tacky feeling that papers clipped to the board might stick too.  The hardest part will be waiting between coats of mod podge and sealer. 

Don't forget to pretty up your note pad for the clip board.  All it took was a little scrap decoupaged onto the top over the ugly staples and binding.  Now it's so much better, cause cuteness always counts :)  I made two more as gifts for two of our little friends.  I'll share those AND my winnings from Doodlebug Designs Inc., soon!
