Back in September I was introduced to PhotoCardsDirect.com when I reviewed the baby announcements we got from them. They had so many great photo birth announcements that when they offered me the opportunity to also get some Christmas photo cards through them I jumped at the chance.
It didn't take me long to find exactly what I wanted. I already knew I a design with room for two pictures, so each child could be shown by themselves. We like classic holiday color combinations so as I looked at the options, I checked traditional color combos first and then picked two photos. The very first one that came up I liked a lot. It's great because both photo spots are the same size so neither child is featured more prominently than the other. The size of pictures on the cards is good too, each is 2.25X4 inches so a great size for family members to cut off and save after the holidays. Then they'll have two brag book sized photos to hang onto.
Unlike the photo birth annoucements we got previously the Christmas photo cards we got are printed on photo paper so the look and feel of them is just as any other matte photo you develop would look. You can also get semi-gloss photo paper, but I like matte better for things that are going to be handled. Fingerprints show up less.
I liked the switch in paper choice and I didn't like that. Liked because as I said above, my family can clip off the two photos on each side and have a wallet ready photo of each child. Didn't because it felt like a large picture and not a greeting card. Unfortunately, cardstock is not a choice for paper with the Christmas photo card I picked.
That being said, a set of 20 of the Green Cheer Christmas Photo Cards with envelopes costs just $19 and 25 of the Ducky Vertical Birth Annoucement Cards costs $48.75. Both currently come with free shipping but the difference in price is significant. This is somewhat offset by the larger dimensions of the birth annoucement but a savings of around $30 between the two can't be beat. I can get over the paper choice selection for that!
We have been sending fewer cards. So our set of Christmas photo cards from PhotoCardsDirect.com should have ours done for less than $20, if I had had to pay for our complimentary review set, is great. I am very happy with the print quality and how the cards I got in the mail matched the colors and design I saw online.
PhotoCardsDirect.com also has cute photo party invitations, I especially love the birthday invites. There are also photo thank you cards, great for after the holidays or birthdays, these are an especially great way for kids to thank all their generous family and friends.
I'll end this review by reminding you, that you can try out PhotoCardsDirect.com and turn any of their designs into a free ecard, neat! Once you customize it with your photo and information you'll get a link sent to you, here is my Ducky Vertical Birth Announcement Free E-Card. Then you can send a link to all your family and friends, using the handy button at the bottom, by email, Facebook, and even Twitter!
