Product Review: Weight Watcher's Ice Cream

Since I had our baby at the end of July, I've really been watching what I eat as I try to lose those baby pounds.  I definitely want to fit back in my prepregnancy clothes so I don't have to buy new things to wear during the in between phase.  Sometimes envisioning myself at the lower weight isn't enough to keep cravings at bay.  Happily, I've been indulging in some really tasty ice cream, yes I said ice cream, that's both yummy and a sensible choice for the waist line.

So what's been in my freezer?  Did you guess four delicious ice cream treats from Weight Watchers?  My favorites are the Weight Watcher's Strawberry Fruit Bar, with just 70 calories, 0 grams of fat, and antioxidant Vitamin C they taste so good I'd never know they are "diet" food!  The big chunks of fruit are so good and make them seem like homemade.  I also like how the serving size is quite generous.  Six come in each package.

The Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Dulcé de Leché dessert bar was also a big hit.  The combination of caramel and dark chocolate coating combine for a very rich and decadent taste.  I've always loved the crunch of a chocolate coating before a bite of creamy ice cream.  It's a real indulgence without the worry.  Each is only 120 calories with 4.5 grams of fat and 0 grams trans fat.  Six come in each package.

The Weight Watchers Strawberry Smoothie Bar is a creamier version of a fruit bar with a blend of yogurt and real strawberries.   These are also a good source of Vitamin C and have 60 calories, 1 gram of fat and 0 trans fat per bar.  There are 12 in a package and are a more petite in size than the previous two discussed.  They are pretty small, I can't imagine eating just one at a time.  They are good, like a smoothie on a stick.  If I had to pick between one of these and one of the Strawberry Fruit Bars, I'd pick the latter.  You feel more satisfied and still get the berry flavor.

The last type of treat I got to check out were the Weight Watchers Snack Size Ice Cream Sandwiches.  There are two flavors in each box: low fat Vanilla Bean and Dutch Chocolate. Each one has 80 calories, 1 gram of fat and 2 grams of protein. Four of each flavor come in each package for a total of eight.  Snack size means about half the size of a "normal" sized ice cream sandwich and this was the only one I don't think I'd purchase for myself.  They were still good, just my least favorite out of the four types we got to sample.  I think they were kind of basic after the more complex flavors of the other three.

I can't imagine stopping eating ice cream any time soon.  It's fantastic to have a way to do so without feeling guilty!  Since I'm going to eat it anyway, having a smarter choice at hand is the way to go.  I will definitely pick up more Weight Watcher's ice cream and I won't think of them as diet foods.  There's nothing diet about the taste!
