For me, one of the funnest parts of getting ready for a baby is planning for the birth announcements. I love sending cards and knew this time around I wasn't going to be able to make each one, like I did five years ago when ER was born. I still wanted something very special for LB and put our own touches on it. That's why I was so excited when PhotoCardsDirect.com contacted me with an offer to try them out. (Please note all examples have been edited for personal information)
I've also got a special code for one lucky reader that will save him or her $10 off an order of 25 cards, read to the bottom to find out how it could be you!
With so many style choices from classic to trendier designs it was hard to narrow down which Photo Birth Annoucement I'd pick. Then I saw Ducky Vertical Birth Annoucement and knew it was the one. I used to collect rubber ducks, the kid's bathroom is decorated in that theme, and the ribbon printed on it matched my son's outfit so it was perfect.
PhotoCardsDirect.com has several different kinds of photo cards, you can use them for many different occassions. We have LB's baptism coming up, and in their Photo Party Invitations I found this card. Just for fun I made a version with a picture of ER at her baptism back in 2006.
After the baptism, you'll want to thank your friends and family. There are lots of Photo Thank You Cards to pick from. I really like this Wedgewood Photo Thank You Cards, that's still masculine enough for a boy.
Since most of my readers haven't just had or aren't expecting a baby, I wanted to make sure to let you know about the Photo Christmas Cards, This was my favorite category to browse around, I really liked their selection. I even found a few with nontradional colors, like the Purple Tree Christmas Photo Cards. It matches this picture of ER holding LB on our couch. I think they go together perfectly.
Now that I've showed you several ways you can use PhotoCardsDirect.com, I know you're all wondering what we thought about them. Here's our cards, it was quick and easy to create them. You can customize the print, font, font color, and font size. They came quickly and I love the high quality of the paper they're printed on as well as the size. Each is just over 7"X5" so they are not only feel substantial but are also a good size. The photo space on this one is over 4"X5", a great size for making your little one's picture the focus. These are birth annoucements worth of becoming keepsakes.
The only hiccups I had with PhotoCardsDirect.com is that free personalized envelopes are supposed to come with your order. I entered my information and on my emailed invoice it lists my address as the envelope inprint. Well they came...and no address was printed on any of the envelopes. That was a bummer because I thought that was a really nice extra and a way to make PhotoCardsDirect.com stand out from their competition. The envelopes are self closing, with a tap to pull off so you can just close and stick but it's not what I expected.
I also found PhotoCardsDirect.com to be a little bit more than some other options. The flat cards I reviewed are $1.95 each or $48.75 for 25. Shipping is free and free personalized envelopes are supposed to be included through 9/14, which evens out the price a little. Plus these cards are quite sizeable and not printed like a photo, as some annoucements we've gotten recently. These will stand out for their quality and make an impression!
You can try out PhotoCardsDirect.com and turn any of their designs into a free ecard, neat! Once you customize it with your photo and information you'll get a link sent to you, here is my Ducky Vertical Birth Announcement Free E-Card. Then you can send a link to all your family and friends, using the handy button at the bottom, by email, Facebook, and even Twitter!
