Stacking Beach Boxes

One of our little friends just turned six years old. Now that she's soon to be a super cool first grader, we had no idea what to get her. We did know we definitely did not want to be the uncool friend who gave her a "baby" gift. So we took the easy way out and gave her a gift card to Justice {insert girlish squeals of joy here}. But you KNOW we couldn't just give her a gift card in an envelope, oh no that is SO not the way we roll around here. I made these tropical beachy stacking trinket boxes for her bedroom. The birthday girl recently had a room makeover and these match the new bedding. I put little gifts inside each layer and the gift card at the bottom.
The set of boxes are from Joann's and were priced at $6 dollars, but I used a 40% off coupon. I decided they doubled as gift wrap and just tied them with ribbon for presentation. The paper is decoupaged on each box and lid with mod podge.
The paper is from an older summer stack by Die Cuts with a View. Most of the flat embellishments are from the Citronella line by K&Company.
Some of the die cuts have glitter on them, glitter makes just about everything better don't you think? Can you see the sparkle on the popsicle? I thought the orange felt "sweet" added a nice bit of texture, I think that's from Making Memories as well as the yellow bikini sticker.

The red foam "fun" letters on the smallest box are from the dollar section of Target, can't believe I still have some left. It was such a good decision to by several packages of those! I've used them a lot, you might remember them from here and here.
Because I wanted the boxes to stack, I had to keep the lid decorations flat, except for the top box. The tags on the two larger boxes are so she can write what's inside on them. The red vellum letters are by Mrs. Grossman and represent her initials. Rub on by Anna Griffin.
I think they are so cute. I know, I know, I say that every time! But I really do think they are a fun room decoration and place to stash little collections. Something I know most girls never out grow having☺ I hope our birthday girl liked them as much as I do. I kinda wanted to keep them for myself when I was done!
