Earlier in the year we reviewed "
Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake" on DVD and since then ER's interest in ballet has only grown. She loved being in her recital last spring and has been twirling and dancing around in her dress up tutu ever since. She was so excited when the
"Prima Princessa Presents The Nutcracker" DVD showed up on our doorstep!
This adorable DVD features England's famed Birmingham Royal Ballet performing "The Nutcracker", the classic Christmas ballet filled with snow fairies, waltzing flowers and toy soldiers. It's a great value at only $6.99! ER was mesmerized by the opulent stage decorations and the beautiful ballerinas and their costumes. She also loved dancing along with the little girls and learning new ballet steps with
Prima Princessa. It would make a great holiday ballerina gift for girls ages 3 to 7!
ER was not able to resist putting on her new ballet outfit and dancing along to the mini-dance-lessons-montages featuring students from the New York City Ballet's School of American Ballet as well as little children in dress up tutus too. It was nice how
Prima Princessa takes the viewer through the steps several times and gave ER ample time to try out her new steps. (Yes I am embarrassed by all the fingerprint marks on our TV. Please ignore, they are from ER she likes to rub hands all over it for some reason. Hoping she outgrows that phase soon!)
An adorable cartoon ballerina,
Prima Princessa, narrates this charming show. "
Prima Princessa Presents The Nutcracker" also has several fun bonus features featuring holiday crafts, holiday treats and more fun dancing. Some of the fun things you'll see the little girls doing include decorate gingerbread, make glitterly fans like the dancers had in the Nutcracker, and the one ER was especially inspired by, creating colorful paper chains. She also really liked the freeze dance portion, they do that in her ballet class so she knew just what to do.
For information on where to purchase "
Prima Princessa Presents The Nutcracker" or to view a clip of the show please visit
Prima Princessa at
PrimaPrincessa.com. This fun website, full of free ballerina coloring book pages, free ballerina princess dress up games and more is a great resource for dance-loving children. This DVD is now available, it released September 7, 2010!
Prima Princessa DVDs make cute inexpensive gift ideas for kids or great gift ideas for dancers this Holiday season. Available at Amazon.com, Target.com, Barnes & Noble.com and select stores across the country.
We now have two
Prima Princessa DVDs, and I suggest that parents start the collection with
The Nutcracker. It instantly captivated ER and is a good introduction to ballet because of it's familiar holiday theme and fun bonus features that girls can relate to. It's a great DVD to encourage your child's interest in dance and gives them something to move around to in between dance classes!
Disclosure: A reviewer's copy of this DVD and press materials to help me write this post were provided for me. This review relates my own personal and unbiased opinions and experience with it and yours may differ.
Maybe I can watch it with her when I come over for a playdate!

ReplyDeleteHi Katie, Looks like ER enjoyed the video! I bet there are plenty of little ballerinas out there who would feel the same way.
