Not only has a new year begun but a new decade too. I am determined to make several lifestyle changes and stick with them! Last year I lost fifteen pounds and I'm all set to work on the next ten with my new book, Totally Toned Arms: Get Michelle Obama Arms in 21 Days by Rylan Duggan.
This book caught my attention because I have long suffered from what I refer to as "Upper Arm Embarrassment" meaning that I hate mine and going sleeveless really isn't an option. Hence you will not find me in a tank top, EVER. I liked how right off the bat, Duggan dispels any notion that you will be spot training, which is a fitness myth. His program outlines methods to burn fat from your entire body, with some exercises designed to tone and sculpt the arm muscles, so you'll enjoy a sleeker more fit body all over.I found his book to be very accessible to newbie fitness, former couch potatoes like myself. You can do his program without joining a gym and big weight machines and fancy equipment aren't needed. Gym and home versions of exercises are given.
Frankly, the thought of going to a gym is enough to make me fall off the fitness bandwagon, so Duggan's at home versions are exactly what I am looking for. Basic equipment like barbells, resistance band, and exercise ball are needed, but I already have those on hand.
Clear and concise information is given. All of the exercises are described in step by step directions and shown through numerous black and white photos. The 50-60 pictures are extremely helpful to see the correct technique. Larger ones are in the strengh training chapter and thumbnail versions of the pictures are then provided again in 21 day program, which is a little small for me, but since I can easily refer back to their larger versions that's a minor inconvenience. A strength training component has always been what's missing from my exercise routine and with Duggan's book guiding me I feel confident enough to pick up my weights for the first times in years.
Rounding out his program is cardiovascular training, which stresses interval training and how to adapt it to your preferred option, like mine the elliptical trainer. There's also a nutrition program, with essential diet secrets designed to shed fat and reveal toned muscle. Three maintenance workouts are included at the end, so you can keep your new body looking great.

Oh, this is exactly how I feel about my arms! I don't even wear short sleeved shirts; three quarter lengths only! I'd love to win this to get my arms ready for this spring and summer, especially after my baby comes in March!

ReplyDeleteI want to win because I would like to lose some weight all over!! I gained more than I should have during pregnancy. My daughter is now 16 months old and it is time to do something about it. I am tired of the extra 15 lbs. I still carry around and I am determined to lose it this year.

I've lost quite a bit of weight, but it's left my arms a little wobbly. I need to tone them up and I think this would be a great book for me.
