Magna Play Review and Giveaway

Giveaway now closed, thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations to Desiree comment #30 who said...have your button Desi
As soon as we got these Alphabet Picture Puzzles from Magna Play, we had to open them. ER grabbed the little cosmetic sized storage case and carried them off to her room. Where she was busy putting them together and playing independently for 30 minutes, in and of itself a minor miracle and enough for me to give this toy top ratings! The set we received is called an Alphabet Picture Puzzle, and rather than being one big puzzle it more like 26 two piece mini puzzles, one for each letter of the alphabet. There are 52 pieces, or tiles as Magna Play calls them, in total. Each one with a full magnetic backing. That's so they can be used with MagnaPlay's magnetic activity board and storage case called a MagnaKase. When used together, a child can take their Magnetic Alphabet Puzzle on the go, using the tiles on the surface or storing them inside the MagnaKase.

I have not used a MagnaKase, nor have I seen one in person. I like the option of using them for a a portable educational toy but there are plenty of ways to enjoy them without a one. Take them in the zippered case the next time you go visiting, and bring a fun activity for your kids. You can put them together on any surface or use them on a refrigerator, if it's magnetic. Or you can play the game suggested by MagnaPlay: Shuffle the tiles and place them face up and let the children pick up one tile at a time.
Here is the puzzle for the letter I, as in I is for Ice Cream. Isn't it fun how it's actually shaped like an ice cream cone? You might notice that the capital letter I is printed in yellow, that's to help kids learn the difference between vowels and consonants, which are done in white.
I have purchased alphabet puzzles in the past for my classroom, but they were made out of thick cardboard or cheaply made out of wood with rough edges. I know that the wooden Alphabet Picture Puzzle will stand up to years of use. It has a nice thin profile and the edges are smooth and polished. A set would also make a great center in an early learning center, kids would love putting these together on the white board or on the side of a filing cabinet.
