Apple Pickin' Time

For Show and Tell Saturday, over at my other blog ABC & 123, I wanted to share this fun outing. I'd love to see all the fall inspired activities, trips, and lessons you've been doing too! Please join us on our biweekly blog hop.
A couple of weeks ago, ER and I spent a Friday afternoon with my parents. Together, we all took her apple picking for the first time. We went back to one of our favorite apple orchards, where we'd taken her before to see the animals and eat donuts. I featured that trip on the scrapbook pages I recently shared on Scrapbook Sunday.
She had a great time on the hay ride out to the fields and because it's early in the season the trees were loaded with apples! It was very easy and quick to fill up our large bag with several kinds of apples. A few times ER would grab one of the apples low to the ground and pull so hard that when the apple came off the branch she'd land on her bottom. She mainly likes to eat them plain so we got lots of eating apples. I have never been able to get her interested in apple sauce, baked apples, etc. Although my mom did make sure to get some for apple pies.
After our bag was filled we spent some time exploring the shop, picking out what my Dad considers the best cherry pie in town, and buying donuts and cider. We also discovered that they have a huge assortment of heirloom tomatoes, that they even got a grant to help them cultivate and grow them this year. My mom picked out a big bag of those to try.
By then it was time for a snack, the cinnamon sugar donuts are so yummy and airy. Plus their cider is also light, not like the cider we get at the farmstand by us so ER liked it a bit better.
Then we still had time for ER to play on the wooden tractor and slide combination before she went on yet another...
haystack! This one is packed a little firmer and is higher than the one by us. So Papa had to give her a boost or two. When she got to the top she kept talking about the great view and how she could see all the way to our house. Which would be quite something since I think we live about two hours away. But her excitement was very cute.
It was a great little day trip and we even had time to play back at Grammy's and Papa's house, go for a bike ride, and watch a Mickey Mouse video before we had to leave and meet Uncle Dave for dinner. We all went to Olga's Kitchen. I haven't been to one in over a year and let me tell you it was GOOD! Their top secret special Olga's bread is as tasty as ever, I saw that they're having some good deals on kid's meals right now, hmm...think I'll have to twist Brad's arm to take us to one near us soon:)

It looks like she had a blast and I can totally picture her pulling so hard she landed on her bottom! We went to the pumpkin patch the other day but are going to a "better" one in the next week or so.
