Putting together my zoo alphabet and looking at the pictures from San Diego got me reminiscing about that trip, our last SoCal trip from Fall 2004. Wow until I wrote that I didn't realize its going on five years since we went. What a different life we led then, when we were childless and fancy free, LOL!
I added rub-ons and tied a ribbon around the 12X12 scrapbook that all the pages from this trip are in. I have no idea why I put Paradise Found offset like that, I kinda cringe whenever I look at that, but once on those rub-on are on! I've got a ton of pages crammed into that scrapbook but I'll only share a few today, in fact I took so many pictures on that trip that all the ones from the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park are in their own book. We stayed in this great little budget hotel in Malibu, right on the beach. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing and it was paradise. The room, not so much but for that view I can overlook a lot of things. Plus compared to a lot of places in the LA area it was a steal. I used a kit I got on sale to put the page together, the sewing was all done for me; the 3D tags and photo corners were already assembled. I'm sorry for the blurriness but a certain someone cut into my photo taking time so I didn't have time for a redo. The first night we were there, we went for a walk along the beach in Santa Monica. The famed pier was pretty empty but we weren't there to go on carnival rides anyway. The sunset was pretty spectacular. I thought the decorative slide mounts on this page turned out pretty neat. They're plastic and I backed them with cardstock that I wrapped with ribbon and added a metal charm to.
I think everyone who comes to LA is required to take at least one Hollywood sign picture. here's our versions which due to the haze didn't come out that fabulous and I gee do I look dumpy in that photo! Do you like me attempt to recreate my own Hollywood hills for the background of this layout? Am I cheesy or what?! You know we had to stop at Disneyland and I am so glad we did. We both loved California Adventureland. It was fun to go and see something totally new at Disney. Brad even liked it and he can be Mr. Grumpy on vaca sometimes. The pictures in the layout above are from Disneyland and are of the iconic ride It's A Small World. Even though I am grown up, I still love that ride! I made the background by using my Creative Memories circle cutter to cut all those circles. I like the break from black, red, white, and yellow that are in most of my Disney layouts in this one.
Noelle and Holly are your hostesses this Sunday as in the past for Scrapbook Sunday, please head over and see their scrapbook pages too!
Awesome pages!!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the Hollywood sign page.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. I love looking at scrapbook pages, looking for inspiration. I like how you used the patterned paper. I love patterned paper, but sometimes I think I go overboard with it. I think I need to start using it more for accents than letting it take over.

ReplyDeleteI like the scrapbook kit that you used and the background with the circle is cool. Very creative. Giving me an idea:)
I didn't know you could put a rub on a photo album that has texture on it. I will have to give it a try! Also the Paradise Found title looks fine. I didn't think anything was wrong how you layed it out. Actualy it looks good:)
