I found this survey on Anna's blog, it's pretty interesting and fun. I've seen a few of these surveys go around but never one so focused on motherhood. I thought since most of my blogging community are mommies, this one would be fun to share and it's rather appropriate for today, being that it's Mother's Day here in the US.
1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED? Strategically planned is a better way to put it! That was Anna's answer and it applies to me too. We'd waited until Brad had finally finished graduate school before planning our family. I wanted to be a SAHM and the only way that was possible was if he was no longer a student and was bringin' home the bacon ☺
2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME? Oh yes, and by that time one of my parents' friends at church, who's a good Catholic having contributed eight children to the population, was asking, "What's the hold up, are they just good friends?" LOL
3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS? Holy cow that worked ALREADY? Anna's response and in a way could also apply to our situation. We got pregnant the first month we were officially trying.
4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU? Absolutely not, not then, not ever.
5. HOW OLD WERE YOU? 28 at the start, 29 at birth
6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT? Home pregnancy test, it showed positive immediately. But Brad kept staring at the stick with a slightly scared look, I was like um it's positive. He goes, "It says to wait two minutes," I replied, "I don't think it's going to change to negative!" He was shocked cause we got preggers the first month of trying so right out of the gate.
7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST? My Dad, I called to tell my mom but she was out. I'd alluded to the fact we might be pregnant the day before and thought she would have mentioned it to my Dad. She hadn't because she didn't want to say anything til we were sure. So he was pretty surprised. I made decoupaged frames for my extended family for Christmas that year and made an insert that said We're Having a Baby that I put in where the picture goes, as our way to tell them. I thought that was a neat way to share our news.

I also had two more Meet the Baby parties the December after she was born when the baby and I stayed in MI with my parents from Thanksgiving through to the New Year.

Sandy over at the Adams Family did this a few months ago and I thought it was so sweet. Reading yours made me a little weepy remembering my first time.
Wow, your pregnancy was a little scary, glad everything turned out okay.
