Back when we were first married and living in CA, we lived ten minutes from a Costco. I can't tell you how many times we ended up there on Friday night with me eating a piece of their giant two dollar pizza slices (blot them heavily as they can be greasy) and Brad with one of their polish sausage and drink combos. Grand total for our meal four bucks, because my husband is cheap enough to make me share his drink! My coworkers would joke about our "romantic" date night.
Why Friday night? That was our store's slow time, if you went on the weekend there were lines a mile long. On Friday night, it was practically empty; we've noticed it's that way at most Costco's after seven, unless there's a big holiday coming up.

My husband jokes our meal expenses have gone way up, 50% as a matter of fact, as now that's she's bigger and ER needs her own piece of pizza; not just a few bites of mine. She eats hers minus the pepperoni; we can't get her a slice of the cheese pizza because they put a ton of extra of cheese on it and it's too cheesy for her. Can you believe it, there's such a thing as too much cheesy goodness?! And on days when we also get a frozen yogurt to split as well, then we're up to a 100% more.
Don't feel too sorry for my husband's wallet, it still only comes to eight dollars then. He really isn't that cheap. We just like thinking we're saving money somewhere, makes the hundred bucks we drop almost everytime we step in that place seem not so bad. It's those diapers, they cost a small fortune over the first few years, wouldn't you agree?
We went last night and ER was great because one of the samples happened to be vanilla ice cream, which she got to eat before dinner. Can you imagine how happy she was? I was pretty excited too, because I found out they're running a sale through May 3rd: 4x6 digital prints are only 9 cents each and my order was over ten dollars less than I expected.
Costco, is definitely one of the things I love. Read about more favorite things at Things I Love Thursday, hosted by The Diaper Diaries.
Don't forget today is the last day to enter my Purple Trail Giveaway!!!
The 4*6 were 9 cents (4 cents off base price of 13 cents) Prices may vary by location.
ReplyDeleteI did suggest going all the way up to a 10 dollar trip by ordering our own pizza which could come pre pepperoni free on half without the extra cheese. The cheese pizza has enough to make it very hard to eat for the little one.
Hahaha...too bad you don't live in our town! We go there for dinner every Friday night. Unfortunately, their hot dog is my only option right now. :-( I wanna piece of pizza!! (Nursing baby can't handle dairy...or onions...or cranberries...or too much nutmeg/cloves etc.)
ReplyDelete:) We love Costco too, we used to have date nights there also. Actually, we've even gone there for a date once post-kids...
ReplyDeleteMy kids love it too, they actually CRY when it's time to go home!
They just built a Costco not too long ago but I still have my Sam's membership. I haven't checked into which on is better. That pizza looks yummy, grease and all.
ReplyDeleteHow's the tea party planning coming?
Oh yes. How do I love Costco. Let me count the ways. Sounds like a fun date night to me. I was just in there yesterday...... and the day before. Shhh. Don't tell.
ReplyDeleteBecause we live in So Calif., we have only to drive about 20 minutes in every direction to find a Costco!
ReplyDeleteWe used to (still do I guess) scrounge up $ from our change drawer and turn it in to cash and go treat ourselves to 2 polish dog combos- now with the kidlets, like you it's 4 combos!
I heart Costco!
i've never been to cosco!! we have sam's club- which seems similar and i love sams!!
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I've never been to Costco, but we've spent plenty of time in the Sam's Club cafe'.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a costco nearby but my husband and I have gone out to eat on a Saturday night and then gone to Walmart afterwards for our date :) We love Fancy Nancy too!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE our Sam's Date Nights! :)
ReplyDelete:-) Very funny! We got rid of our membership because we were spending too much $$ on stuff we didn't need...I miss it!
ReplyDeleteWe shared our pizza with the girls for the first time ever a few weeks ago (yes, they are nearly 2... don't know why we waited so long for the pizza intro!), and quickly realized that we're gonna have to start ordering bigger pizzas.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much a growing kid will eat!
This makes me laugh! We were JUST AT COSTCO last night! And enjoyed ourselves a slice of pizza and soda. And we all 4 shared a yogurt. Sometimes we'll get a yogurt first before shopping if we're going at a time where it's not dinner. We'll put some in two water cups, give the kids one spoon and a cup and it's bliss for the rest of the trip while we browse the aisles...a little messy/sticky, but bliss nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteThe closest store to my house is a Costco. I can be there in 1minute if I drive. It is the best!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I totally love Costco too, I'd love to spend hours there but never have the time. 2nd, your tip about eating there for cheap on Friday night, love that idea, maybe we should try it tomorrow, I love giant slices of pizza! Finally, thanks for the tip about 9-cent photos, I've gotta get in on that! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCostco Rocks! love dining out there...i can feed my family of 7 for under $10 ;O)
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! Thanks so much for letting me know about the comment form on my blog..I have actually 'fixed' this problem twice already but I'm trying again :(. Not sure why Blogger doesn't love me...
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a Costco nearby but we love our Sam's Club! Buying in bulk really makes sense for a family of our size AND they have the cheapest produce and milk!
Not only is Cosco a great place to shop and eat - I love the frozen yogurt-but they treat their employees very well. They don't get the negative publicity Walmart and Sam's get.
ReplyDeleteDo you rmember the Friday night I wnet and we shared the Diet Coke....it made Brad soo happy!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I used to love Costco. They had a cool smoothy drink. But now our thing is Sam's Club. We can unload a boat load of money shopping at the store.
ReplyDeleteThis Costco post was cute! I soo love the saving money part...and cheap date! hee hee
ReplyDeleteIts the simple things in life that are the best though~ Simple and practically FREE in my book!! hee
